My apples trees are full with fruit! I am not sure what to do with them all if you were my neighbor I would invite you over to pick a basket full! They are not the best eating apples but they are wonderful to cook with. We have been compiling recipes of all the yummy dessert's you can make with apples, we started off with Carmel Apple Crisp served warm with vanilla ice cream of course . Any one have a great recipe to share? I did get to a new purse done this week. More Garden Party I just can't get enough of this fabric! To be listed soon in my Etsy Store!
Have a Happy Weekend! Meg
My goodness at the apples!! Sorry I don't have any good recipes to share. I love the bag!
ReplyDeleteCute bag! Yummy apples! I love fall for the abundance of apples and excuses to eat them baked in all sorts of sweet goodness. I have a cheddar apple pie recipe that is delish! I can email it to you if you are interested. . .
ReplyDeleteActually here it is, it was more accessible than I thought.
ReplyDeleteApple Cheddar Pie
1 unbaked pie crust (Pillsbury is best or make your own)
8 tart apples, peeled, thinly sliced (my pie pan fits only 5 apples, though)
¼ c. sugar
¼ c. flour
2 tbs. lemon juice
2 c. grated cheddar cheese
Streusel:
¼ c. flour
½ c. sugar
1/3 c. butter
Preheat over to 425 degrees.
In large bowl, dust the apple slices with the flour and sugar.
Drizzle lemon juice and turn the mixture.
Prepare streusel by mixing flour and sugar and cutting in the butter. Should be crumbly. Add flour if necessary.
Fill pie crust with apples. Sprinkle with cheese. Cover with streusel.
Bake 30-40 minutes until pie is bubbling and golden.
Deelish!
Wish I were your neighbor, I would take some of those gorgeous Apples off your hands! Actually I would rather eat that yummy looking dessert!

ReplyDeleteDo you can Meg? I have a wonderful recipe for home-canned apple pie filling if you'd care to have it. The only hard thing about it is peeling the apples! I'll be doing that this week too.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the bag, jealous of your neighbors!
ReplyDeleteI make a Cran-Apple crisp every fall. It's become a requirement for Thanksgiving! I don't really have a set recipe for it, (like most things,) I just take a basic apple crisp recipe and add about a cup of whole cranberries to it. I tried chopped cranberries but it just wasn't the same.
Wonderful creations and bags!
ReplyDeleteI have a yummy recipe that I make everytime I have apples on hand, and it's quite easy.
(I'm translating from french so I'm not sure if it's written correctly!)
Apple Crumble
220 g of white flour
220 g of butter
200 g of white sugar
50 g more of butter for cooking the apples
cinnamon in powder (optional)
Preheat oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
Peel and cut the apples in slices or in small pieces. Bake them about 3-4 minutes in a pan with the 50 g of butter. You can add cinnamon at this time if you want.
Mix together the flour, sugar and butter with your hands until you have a texture like breadcrumbs.
In a ovenproof dish, put a small part of the crumble mixture in the bottom and cover it with the apples. Add the rest of the mixture on top.
Bake in the middle of the oven for 40-50 minutes or until the top of the crumble is browned.
Absolutely delicious!
