Quilts that tell a story........

I love quilts that tell a story or have a great meaning. My mom brought me this the other day it is a quilt top that she started when she was 19 years old, 35 years ago! I am going to finish it for her!
I love the fact that she can look at it and tell me the yellow is from a dress she made and wore in high school. The orange & purples are from my great grandmother& the blues were dresses my Aunt wore. What I hope to find is photos of my family wearing the clothing!

We are currently looking for fabrics to coordinate for the sashing & binding!

Then she brought out these! They are made by my great grandmother all hand pieced & stitched. I can only imagine the time it took to make all of the tiny stitches!

I hope to think the quilts I make now will be as treasured and loved as these, even after I am long gone, as these are sure to be treasured for many more years to come!

Have a happy day! Meg

Bushfire Quilt Project

I am so glad I could be part of this wonderful group of quilters, all lending a hand to help those in need! All of the blocks will be sew in to quilts and given to the families that lost everything in the fires. Check out the group page for more info!

Here are my blocks that are off to Australia! It is not too late to whip up a few blocks if you are interested, here is the tutorial I used!

Dump Trucks for Dolls.........

I walked in to my kitchen and found the boys (my son & nephew) busy at work, when I asked them what they were doing they told me they were playing house and (the little papers taped to the edge of my table) are bananas and they are feeding their trucks banana stew because they are hungry of course! I guess that is life with boys! Dump trucks take the place of dolls. Here is another prime example: for my son's Valentine box we had to have an equal amount of truck stickers to add with the sparkle hearts. On another note I think we are finally free of viruses in my house my son ended up on 2 rounds of antibiotics before he got well.
I have had little time to craft, but I am working on a new small quilt. Here is a peek
I think the colors look yummy all stacked up!
I joined a quilt swap and this is my first mini quilt! It is called a Crazy Star & I love how it turned out it was a little hard to send away. Hopefully she will like it as much as I do!

I am so sad this is what we woke up to this morning we had a crazy wind storm last night and it tipped my sons playhouse over! He cried when he saw it I almost did to, I saved all last winter to buy it for him. It completely ripped the anchors out of the ground along with my neighbors front porch, we are lucky no one was hurt, but it still makes me sad to look at it!

We can see some damage, but the hubby needs to look at it further to see how it can be repaired! And the wind is still blowing!Hope you have a wonderful day! Meg

Anyway you Slice it........

After many weeks of work I finally got my quilt top done, I love how it turned out! I used mostly Jennifer Paganelli prints one from Sandi Henderson & a Heather Bailey , it incorporates all of my favorite colors. I am not quite sure what I am going to do with it yet it measures 42" x 60" so it is more of a throw, but I am sure I will find somewhere for it to go. I still need to back & bind(I am using the black & white dot for binding) and of course quilt it, any suggestions for quilting? It is already a "busy" design so I want something simple.Have a Happy Evening! Meg
