Attempting Lattice Smocking….
I have been doing some research on smocking I love the look and I thought it would be fun to try!
I started mine with an 18 x 18 inch square
it is a bit hard to tell in the pic but I blocked it off in 1x1 inch squares with a 1.5 inch boarder
I drew in my stitch lines
and began to stitch
this is a back view about half finished
front view
I added a 3 inch border and it is going to become a new pillow!
It is not perfect but I think it is pretty good for my 1st try!
finished back view.
this is the next smocking project on my list!
Hope you are having a fabulous day!

My Sewing Room
I like to think of my sewing room as organized disarray! I know where everything is most of the time, I just uncovered the top of my table so I thought I would take a pic before it disappears again.
My fabric cabinet I do need to refold my fabrics so it looks pretty again!
I finally got my bulletin board up and pinned up my postcard collection from my sewing friends from all over the world!
this is my table,
I just found the top again, it has been missing since before Christmas ...
It makes things so much easier when you have space to work!
You can also see I am working on the binding for my Fab Little Quilt & also an adorable paper pieced Matriochka Doll quilt block you can find the pattern here!
This is in my living room wall! My aunt gave me this vintage yellow curtain rod and I hung wide black ribbon from it! I think it makes the perfect mini quilt display!
Hope you are having a happy Leap Day!

French Macaron
I love to bake and try new recipes. I have had this recent obsession with French Macarons, I have searched tons of recipes and finally decided to give it a try. I had read that they can be tricky and that it is sometimes difficult to get them to come out right. I found this recipe and I thought it worked out great it used basic measurements! I have more recipes I would like to try most used grams so I need to purchase a food scale!
I thought for sure my batter was too thin but it seemed to work out fine in the end. Make sure to let the batter rest for 45mins up to 2 hrs if you want the shell to bake properly!
the "foot" of the macaron turned out just like it was supposed too!
I filled mine with Swiss Meringue Buttercream.
they were fabulous, they were crisp on the outside with delicate insides and the Swiss meringue was a perfect match! I will be trying more very soon!
Here are some great blogs I came across in my search, they have tons of useful info
on making French Macarons.
Hope you are having a great day!
