~Under the Sea~

Along with sewing I also love to decorate cakes! I have been doing this for a few years now and I think I get better with each design.  I wanted to share a Little Mermaid cake I did this past weekend! I was such a fun colorful cake!

You can stop by my new facebook page to see more photos of my designs!
Hope you are keeping cool in this horribly hot weather!

What's on my sewing table....

Along with my Farmers Wife Quilt I have been working on a few other quilts.
Here is a look at my progress on my Dresden Plate. It is going to be a wall hanging for my "living room redo" so I think 9 plates will be plenty!
Still undetermined on the center circles though.......
4 done 5 more cut and ready to sew!!!

Now on to the progress of my hexi squared quilt!  This is the most time consuming quilt I have ever done!
I started it last summer and I have been hand sewing the hexis and then machine sewing the borders.  I tend to work like crazy on this quilt and then it will sit for weeks or even a month.....
I am still unsure of how bit this one will be each "square" measure 19"
I do love how it is turning out though.  There is something to be said about hand sewing, it make you appreciate the craft from it roots!
I hope you are having a wonderful day!

~The Farmers Wife~

My copy of The Farmers Wife finally arrived and I could hardly wait to get started!  I choose to make mine a "scrappy" quilt considering I have a ton of scraps laying around.  This book comes with a CD that has all the templates for each of the 111 blocks!

I have blocks 1-4 done so far!
 #1 Attic Windows
 #2 Autumn Tints
 #3 Basket
 #4 Basket Weave
Angela from Fussy Cut is co hosting the quilt along!  You can check out her blog here.
I have also joined along with the flick group for The Farmers Wife Quilt Along
