The Block Swap Progress

I am finally making some progress with my quilt form The Block Swap Quilting Bee! I thought for months I wanted to sash each block in another solid color, then it finally came to me this week why bother when the blocks all flow together so well side by side!  I love how it turned out and I am so very thankful to the ladies that helped make this quilt possible!

It kind of reminds me of All Sorts licorice candy! What do you think?

The top measures 60" x 60" square!  I am getting feedback that it should be bound in charcoal with bits of red and aqua!

Hope you are all having a wonderful week!

What a hoot!

I have been having so much fun with this design, I wanted to share it with all of you!  This fun little owl can be made in to a number of projects!  I traced the patten on to fusible web and then did a raw edge applique to stitch into place on a plain long sleeve t shirt.

Just click on the below photo and print to your desired size!

Love my little model she is bundles of fun!!
 Up close of the applique!
The owl here is approx 8" tall just to give you an idea!
And I used buttons for the eyes!

Hope you are having a wonderful day!

Blogger’s Quilt Festival – Fall 2010

It's time for the Fall 2010 Blogger's Quilt Festival hosted by Amy, from Amy's Creative Side! My entry is  my first Cathedral Window Quilt it is more of a mini quilt but I am proud of it none the less!  I had been wanting to try this style for many years but was aways intimidated by it, it was actually much easier than I thought.  A time consuming style but the outcome is more than rewarding!  I love how it looks up against the light.  I guess I do not have any specific "story" to tell, I used all of my favorite fabrics on a white background, I hope to make a much larger one some day!  I can not wait to visit all of you other quilters!

My how time flies....

I never meant to go a whole month with out blogging it just seemed to happen. I am here so say I am back to business and promise to keep things more updated! Here is a little peek at what I have been up to!

We have been busy finishing our new living room!  Here is a look....
I made a Garden Party quilt to go over the couch I am now working on some more pretty pillows!

I have been wanting to do this forever!  I finally got around to framing some AMH prints in embroidery hoops and now I just need to get some photos for the frames!
Here is a closer look at the quilt it measures approx 45" x 45" square.
I just love binding a quilt!  It is my favorite part of the whole process!
I also thought I would post a few pics of "what on my sewing table"  My happy scrappy jar!
I have been working on my hexi quilt as well a slow but rewarding process.  I will post more pics soon!
I hope all is well with you my blogging friends!  I will be back tomorrow to post my favorite quilt for Amy's Blogging Festival.

Family Treasures....

I am so excited to finally have this machine!  It was my great grand mothers and I have heard stories about it through the years but it had been sitting in my great uncles basement and we were not sure what the condition would be after all of the years.  Well it exceeded my expectations and I could not be more happy!

It is a Minnesota Treadle Sewing machine. Manufacture by Sears and from the research I have done it looks like this might be a  "Minnesota C" in a four drawer cabinet with skeletal type frames manufactured around 1900-1910.

My grandmother remembers rocking herself on the treadle paddle when she was around 3years old.
The belt is broken but I hope to get it replaced soon! I love all of the design work on the machine.

It still has some of the spools my great grand mother used in the drawers.
 And a well used manual!
The skeleton key to lock the drawers.
It needs a good cleaning but I would love to be able to getting in working condition again!

Thanks for all of the responses I have received regarding my new pattern!  I will be getting with you very soon with the details!
Have a great weekend! Meg
