~Handmade Holidays~ Spool Garland

I published this post last holiday season but it is one of my favorites so I thought I would share again for those of you who have not see it!
I am getting ready for the holidays and looking for some fun holiday tutorials to share on my blog!  Let me know if you are interested!  I found this super easy tutorial for Spool Garland and had to try it out!
Only I used good old Aleene's Tacky Glue instead of Mod Podge (I did not have any on hand).
I LOVE how it turned out!

I used some of my favorite Jennifer Paganelli prints!

My garland turned out about 12ft long!
I think I will be making more!

~Gifts for Giving~ Inspiring Words Embroidery Hoop Tutorial

With the holidays quickly approaching I have been trying to think of some fun DIY gifts you can make and give to others!  If you have a DIY tutorial you would like to feature on my blog feel free to email me at boutiquenutmegdesigns@hotmail.com!

Inspiring Words Embroidery Hoop Tutorial
Materials Needed:
Wooden Embroidery Hoops ~ any size
Acrylic paints and paint brush
Fabric
Embellishments such as ribbon, flowers, buttons
Felt
Hot Glue Gun
I started by painting the outer ring of the hoop.
You can see I did one in red, black & Aqua
I typed out some Inspiring words in my computers word program and printed them on the Quick Fuse sheets.  All the instructions to use these fabric sheets are on the package.  They are super easy!
Then I sorted through to see what embellishments I wanted to use.
I used this great free tutorial from Jennifer Paganelli for the frayed fabric roses!
I Ironed my word on to a piece of felt and then used my pinking rotary cutter to cut a pretty border of felt around the words.
For the fabrics you can use anything.  Here I stitched together 3 different prints for a patchwork look.
Once you have your fabric in the hoop turn it over and use a hot glue gun to glue the edges down on the backside of the hoop.
If you have lots of excess fabric just trim it off!
 Now for the fun part!
Arrange your embellishments how ever you like and add your inspirational words.
Using the hot glue gun glue them on to the fabric!
Here are how mine turned out!
Be creative if you are giving as a gift think of words that would inspire your friends or family!

Enjoy! Meg

~Crayon Canvas Art ~ I just had to try it~

As soon as I saw this on Sara's Blog I knew I had to try it!  So many happy colors!
Sara found here inspiration from here!
All you need is an artist canvas, crayons ( Crayola work the best) a glue gun and then a heat source.
Row all of your crayons however you want, I choose a rainbow of colors.
Then use a hot glue gun to glue into place.
 Make a nice neat row!
 I do love crayons.......
Once they are all glued into place I propped mine up against a glass vase to hold it up right.
Make sure to put some sort of protection under your canvas I used paper towels!
Then I used my heat gun (the others have used a hair dryer on the hottest setting).
and just go back and forth over the crayons until they begin to melt.
Mine made a more drippy pattern.
 I just LOVE it!
I think this would be a great gift for a teachers classroom!
Christmas is right around the corner!
I already had a glue gun so this total project cost under $10.00!
I hope you try this project! It is sure to brighten up any room!
