I also have a give away ready (involving one of my favorite fabric designers and her new book) I will be posting details soon!  Hope you are having a wonderful day! Meg

Sew Darn Cute....

I love this book! Sew Darn Cute by Jenny Ryan it is packed full of really cute super easy projects! This little sunglasses case has been on my list of to do's forever and I finally took the time to make it today!
I used a little bit thicker interfacing that I should have but that just means extra padding right :)

I am working on a fun giveaway! I will be back with details later in the week!

Hope you are having a happy day!

And so it goes.....

Spring always seems to be a super busy time around my house. I got some great shots of my cherry tree in bloom last week along with this busy bee!

We have had beautiful weather, they sky was perfect on this day!
Along with the beautiful weather we have been playing outside more and little guy fell while playing ball in the yard and broke his wrist. It always amazes me how well children adapt to changes in their life. He is pretty bummed he has to miss quite a few t ball games but he is still going to help out with the team! Look at that smile, I have to say he is such a great kid!
I have been busy working on my hexie quilt! Wow hand sewing is tedious work but well worth it! My plan is to have 9 of these big blocks and if all goes well it will make a 54" square quilt. Only 264 more 2" hexies to go.....
I love all of the colors together.
Here is a look at the back side.
Although I am hand stitching the hexies I am machine sewing on the borders!

Hope you are having a wonderful week! Meg

Hexies....

Hexies, they seem to be very popular right now and I have always been a bit intimidated by the construction of them. My Aunt gave me a few patterns a while ago and I finally pulled them out and gave it a try. Aside from my sore finger tips from all of the hand sewing, they are super easy!

Now to decide on the layout....
Here are some great tutorial if you want to give it a go!
this is more of the method I am using Hexagon Piecing
this one is perfect for machine piecing I will be trying this......
Have Fun!

Organza Flower Tutorial

I have been seeing lots of different versions of these fun organza flowers everywhere, so I decided to try out a few! Here are the steps I used to create these fun flowers!
Materials needed:
3-4 colors Organza fabric
thread
sewing needle
scissors
sequins, beads, pearls
heat source/I used a candle
pin backs
sequins, beads & pearls

I started by cutting 12 rough cut circles, 4 each of 3 different sizes

Hold each circle close to the flame so it melts the edges
curling them up.

Stack all of the circles on top of each other, layering

them with the smallest in the center.

Using the thread and needle stitch a few small stitches in the center

in the place where you want the beads to go. Then stitch on the sequins/ beads. Now you are done with the flower!

Now if you like you can stitch a pin back or hair pin to the backside of the flower!

Make a bunch for your friends!

They look great on bags!
Or wear in your hair!
Happy crafting! Meg

My New Sewing Room!

I have been slowly moving in to my sewing room! It is so wonderful to have a room I can call my own! Everything needs to be organized and I am looking for a great way to store all of my fabrics, as they are all still in boxes.
But it is coming along great! I have started to decorate by adding a few things to my room that have a special meaning to me! My grandmother gave me all of her wooden spools of thread, I love them! I found a bubble glass vase to display them in. I cherish the fact she pointed out a few colors and talked about which projects she used them for, it makes them all the more special. I think they look so pretty! This is my DQS8 Mini Quilt, I was super excited to get it in the mail last week! I found a perfect spot on my wall in my new sewing room to display it along with all of my other minis! I ordered this yummy pile of fabrics and I am thinking up some fun project to make.

I will have more photos of my sewing room soon! The rest was way to messy to photograph (haha).

I hope you are all having a wonderful day! Meg
